Schubert 'The Trout'

A vocal piece composed in 1817 when Schubert was 20 years old, with a melody set to a poem by Christian Schwartz (C. F. D. Schubart). "The Trout (Die Forelle, Op. 32 / D. 550)" captures the vividness of a trout swimming in a clear stream and the narrative of it being caught by a fisherman. Originally a piece for piano quintet, it has been reinterpreted as an instrumental piece for a jazz band.
