About This Track
Romantic & Emotional
Although often mistaken for a Spanish folk song in everyday life, "Cielito Lindo" is a representative traditional Mexican folk song composed in 1882. It was composed by the Mexican composer Quirino Mendoza y Cortés.
The title means "My Lovely Lover." In Spanish, "Cielo" means sky and "Lindo" means pretty, so a literal translation would be "Beautiful Little Sky." In reality, "Cielito" is an affectionate pet name used to address a lover or family member, similar to "my love" or "honey."
